HOME-MADE CHICKPEA HUMMUS

Hummus is a trendy dish these days. Hummus has lots of health benefits; one of the benefits of hummus is that it can keep your digestive tract regular, it is an effective way to get more fiber into your diet. While you pair it with celery /carrot sticks, it is also a great healthy snack alternative. Did you know it is actually easy to make it at home?

Ingredients

  • 1 c. cooked chickpea

  • One small lemon

  • One garlic clove, chopped

  • ½ c. tahini, well mixed

  • ½ tsp. Kosher salt

  • ¼ tsp. Ground black pepper

  • ¼ tsp. ground cumin

  • ·2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling

  • 2 tbsp. water

  • Chive for serving


Directions

  • Step 1: Combine cooked chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, tahini, salt, pepper, cumin, and water in a food processor. Process until smooth, about 1 minute.

  • Step 2: With the motor running, stream in 3 Tbsp. Oil, then continue to process until hummus is very light and creamy, about 1 minute longer.

  • Step 3: Transfer hummus to a dish, top with chive, and drizzle with more olive oil.

  • Step 4: Transfer to an airtight container and store in refrigerator.
