HOW TO MAKE OAT MILK

Oat milk is a good choice for people with allergies or intolerances. It’s naturally free of lactose, nuts, soy, and gluten if made from certified gluten-free oats. It’s delicious and may benefit bone and heart health.

Prep: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 4 cups water

  • Optional 1/8 tsp salt

Directions

  • Step 1: To make the oat milk, combine all ingredients in a blender until completely smooth.

  • Step 2: Pour mixture into a fine-mesh strainer, cheesecloth, coffee filter, or nut bag set over a large bowl. Squeeze out the liquid. (Discard pulp or save for different use.) If needed, strain a second time.

  • Step 3: Store leftover milk sealed in the fridge for up to five days, or it can be frozen for a later date.
